Kates is 16 and never tires of working for peace, both in the communities she is a part of and for others she will never meet. She feels frustrated that she has to be in school studying where there is so much work to be done to end violence. Her powerlessness leads her to pray continually for those in war-torn countries and to plot and plan for a future of making a ‘hands on’ difference. She petitions, writes to political leaders who may have some influence and fundraises. She keeps herself informed by watching news, reading articles, educating herself on the justice and peace issue that God places on her heart. Closer to home, she stands up when she sees injustice. She has huge amounts of courage that had led her to speak to senior school leaders asking them to change school policy.

Kate O'Donoghue is from St Gregory the Great Catholic School, Oxford. St Anthony of Padua Church, Oxford.
