Cardinal Hume Award Recipient for living out the option for the poor

Cheenie is 18 years old and at St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College. She has been one of the pillars in the activities organised by the Chaplaincy. She has been faithful in her volunteer work, both with the AGE UK computer classes the college run for pensioners each week in college and also with the lunch club for older people. Cheenie has also been part of the charity committee for the last two years, helping to organise and participate in the sleep out in college for homeless people, the trade takeover of the YMCA charity shop, running a Fairtrade shop for Fairtrade fortnight and has helped organise the sponsored walk in college against human trafficking. Her college cahplain says, “I am nominating Cheenie for her energy and commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the college. She always strives to help those less fortunate."
