Some young people are written off before they’re adults. Sometimes all they need is someone to really listen to them and believe in their potential. That’s why Million Minutes is working to train young leaders with the YCW. Take Danny who’s 22.
After leaving a traumatic home situation and getting into alcohol and drugs, he was written off. It was a chance encounter with a YCW group in the northwest that helped him turn things around. The group gave Danny a sense of his own dignity. It was a small transformation, but it made all the difference.
With a sense of purpose and worth, Danny’s now training to become a plasterer. He’s also getting his YCW group to support the centres which helped him. He’s passing on his experience and getting more young people involved. It’s young people supporting other young people and it’s amazing.
Here at Million Minutes we’re inspired by Danny. We know that young people can get caught in a system that works against them. And we know the power of hope. That’s why we’re working with the YCW to make sure that young people like Danny always get the opportunities they need.
