Get involved
Actions speak louder than words, and silence speaks louder still. That's why this year we're going to create a million minutes of deafening silence. And we need your help to do it. All over the country, in schools and churches, universities and workplaces, we're asking for hundreds of people to volunteer to stay silent. See it as an opportunity to switch off for a while, to spend some time with you.
And use it to raise some money for young people. Maybe you can stay silent, maybe you know some people who can, or maybe you've got some cash you'd like to give to someone staying silent. Whatever you think you can do, please do it. We need you! More information on all the ways to get involved is outlined below.
How to get involved
Sponsor someone
It's a million minutes. And to turn it into a million pounds, we need your help. If you know someone staying silent and they've set up an online fundraising page, you can search for them here and sponsor them – give them that extra little incentive to lay off the texts and Facebook for a while. You might even get some peace and quiet out of it too! Or maybe you don't know anyone, but you'd like to get involved anyway. On our page of featured participants we've got a handful of amazing people who need people like you to dig deep.

How to get involved
Spread the word
You know just the person, right? Let us guess – chatterbox? Never off their mobile phone? Someone who, for just one day, everyone would love to see squirm? We thought as much. Maybe they're a pupil or a student, a teacher or a priest, your boss even, or a chatty colleague? So why not give them a great reason to stay silent for a day? Download the Action Pack, ask them nicely and then start spreading the word. They won't back out then! Send them to this site and we'll explain a bit more. And the best bit? You get to excuse yourself and spend the day on the phone. We're a little bit mean, huh?!
